What partitioning selections did you make? In particular, how big did you make /? Did you get a warning about not enough space?

You chose to use your preexisting /var (sda14) without reformatting the filesystem, which did not have enough free space to hold the contents of the livecd's /var directory. You were warned, but you chose to proceed anyway.

Hi David, No problem closing this, but I don't recall overriding a warning from anaconda that my preexisting /var partitions contents were an issue (and that there was a space shortage). Your comment #7 above is the first time I understood that existing contents would *not* be clobbered by the installation. Of course, it makes sense, once you know the rule (i.e., if you don't want this, be sure to check the "format" box).

It is also true that, while we do an overall space check before beginning the transfer of the live image to disk, we do not check each mountpoint's device to ensure that it can hold it's share of the livecd's contents.
