Description bob picco 2010-09-27 14:41:23 UTC
I booted a rhel5.6 kernel on rhel5.5 installed bits. The machine is
asus-epc1000ha-01. The on board NIC isn't supported by rhel5.x. I'm backporting
it. Jeff lent me the usb nic which works without an issue on a rhel5.5 kernel.

It appears the offending commit is:144e9488. I included the sizeof_priv
in the function alloc_netdev size check violation printk message. The alloc_netdev sizeof_priv is 0x110e8. So it appears a NETDEV_PRIV_LEN_MAX
maximum of 64kB is insufficient? Obviously removing the return in the error
check results in eth0 appearing and functioning properly but might have other
problems according to commit log.

thanx,

bob
