Description James Laska 2010-10-05 12:14:12 UTC
Description of problem:

The Fedora 14 installation guide available on Oct 05, 2010 at http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/14/html-single/Installation_Guide/index.html references RHEL14, where I believe it should refer to F14. The references appear during examples, such as the following sections

 * 3.3.1. UEFI-based systems
   + Where DVD.iso is the name of the ISO image file, for example RHEL14-Server-x86_64-DVD.iso.

 * 5.1. Preparing for a Network Installation
   + See {{admon/note}}
   + dd if=/dev/dvd of=/location/of/disk/space/RHEL14.iso

 * 5.1.2. Preparing for an NFS installation
   + mv /location/of/disk/space/RHEL14.iso /publicly/available/directory/

 * 5.2. Preparing for a Hard Drive Installation
   + dd if=/dev/dvd of=/location/of/disk/space/RHEL14.iso

 * 8.3.2. Installing from a Hard Drive
   + D:\Downloads\RHEL14
   + /home/user1/RHEL14

 * 8.3.5. Installing via FTP or HTTP
   +  /mirrors/redhat/rhel-14/Server/i386/

Please help us save time at this week's Fedora 14 Blocker Bug review meeting by adding your comments on the assessment of this bug. If this bug is still unresolved by Friday, October 8, 2010, we would appreciate your attendance at the Fedora 14 blocker meeting on freenode in the #fedora-bugzappers channel at 16:00 UTC.

The following information would be very helpful to have prior to Friday:
a) whether you believe it is truly a blocker bug
b) what additional information you need to troubleshoot or fix this bug
c) When you estimate having a fix ready

Thank you,
John

Comment 2 Ruediger Landmann 2010-10-06 23:31:02 UTC
I'll have this fixed and rebuilt in the next few hours.

Comment 3 Adam Williamson 2010-10-08 17:25:15 UTC
This was discussed at the 2010-10-08 blocker review meeting. We agreed it does not constitute a blocker as the blocker process does not cover documentation issues.

(It's not fixed yet, despite the above comment).

Comment 4 David Nalley 2010-10-09 02:43:29 UTC
It looks like Rudi has already fixed this in the f14 branch:

commit 0738f1b0f398b1d2e74d51b6fe262bf0af1c853d
Author: Ruediger Landmann <r.landmann>

    remove RHEL references BZ#640271

It likely hasn't been republished yet.

Comment 5 Ruediger Landmann 2010-10-10 23:06:44 UTC
There are in fact still more that I didn't catch; back onto it :(

Comment 6 Jack Reed 2011-10-19 04:59:06 UTC
All erroneous references to RHEL have been removed in the F16 version of the guide.

The draft can be found at http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora_Draft_Documentation/0.1/html/Installation_Guide/index.html

Comment 7 Karsten Wade 2011-12-14 03:49:48 UTC
Removing myself for these bug components as I'm either no longer involved in that aspect of the project, or no longer care to watch this particular bug. Sorry if you are caught in a maelstrom of bug changes as a result!
