It's supposed to be built against libindi, but the kdeedu-4.4.5 build log has this:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- The following OPTIONAL packages could NOT be located on your system.
-- Consider installing them to enable more features from this software.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[snip]
   * libindi (0.6 or higher)  <http://indi.sf.net>
     A framework for controlling astronomical devices such as telescopes, CCDs, filter wheels..etc.
     Gives KStars support for controlling astronomical devices.
but the root.log has:
libindi-devel                    i686    0.6-11.fc13              build   19 k
libindi                          i686    0.6-11.fc13              build  324 k
so I don't know what went wrong (maybe it's actually checking for 0.6.1?).

We really need to make a habit of checking the build.log files for missing dependencies, it's unacceptable to push things with missing features (it's also a regression in the updates).

(FWIW, this is fixed in the 4.5.2 packages.)

It could be easy script, I'll add it as topic for next KDE SIG meeting. This is really not a good situation - we miss features, even it leads to regressions.

Will I see a working kstars in Fedora (13?) any time soon or do I have to
switch Linux distribution for a while?
