with just samba-client and samba-common installed, findsmb
fails with the message:

$ /usr/bin/findsmb
sh: /usr/bin/nmblookup: No such file or directory

IP ADDR         NETBIOS NAME   WORKGROUP/OS/VERSION

This is fixed in the latest samba packages in Raw Hide.
