Description of problem: If you create a custom channel and want to add erratas to it, it takes very long time to add them. For approx 1500 erratas it takes over half hour for them to show up as available. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Satellite 5.3 - spacewalk-java-0.5.44-92.el5sat How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on Channels -> Manage Software Channels -> Create New Channel fill in there all required info and let the 'Parent Channel' as 'none'. 2. Click on Channels -> Manage Software Channels -> Create New Channel fill in there also all required info and set the 'Parent Channel' to the name of the previously created one. 3. Click on Channels -> Manage Software Channels -> choose the channel created in the previous step (2.) 4. click on Errata -> Add Add there all available redhat erratas (~1500) from the base channel. Actual results: It takes over half hour for added erratas to show up as available. Expected results: It shouldn't take so long. Additional info: See private comment(s) for investigation results.
I've tried it now and it doesn't seem to take so much time. I remember there was done some rewriting in area of cloning channels in recent years. My reproducer: 1. Create custom channel 2. Manage this channel -> Add Errata -> Add Red Hat Errata 3. Uncheck Package Association, pick RHEL 7 version, RHEL x86_64 server 7 channel 4. Select all over 1900 errata 5. Submit and after page loads (it takes some time), errata are cloned into channel, errata packages are associated to channel, no major delays
