Laptop appears to lock hard - no screen updates, keyboard doesn't work, mouse doesn't work. This has happened several times before but this is the first time I've been able to capture the kernel bug message. I've only seen this happen on Lenovo T60 and T61 laptops.
I've also seen this: Nov 8 12:32:09 rdale kernel: render error detected, EIR: 0x00000010 Nov 8 12:32:09 rdale kernel: page table error Nov 8 12:32:09 rdale kernel: PGTBL_ER: 0x00000002 Nov 8 12:32:09 rdale kernel: [drm:i915_report_and_clear_eir] *ERROR* EIR stuck: 0x00000010, masking Nov 8 12:32:09 rdale kernel: render error detected, EIR: 0x00000010 Nov 8 12:32:09 rdale kernel: page table error Nov 8 12:32:09 rdale kernel: PGTBL_ER: 0x00000002 Nov 8 12:32:09 rdale kernel: [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung Nov 8 12:32:09 rdale kernel: [drm:i915_do_wait_request] *ERROR* i915_do_wait_request returns -5 (awaiting 454163 at 454159) and found some related bugs in various trackers around the xf86-video-intel driver. I don't know now if these are two interrelated or independent problems.
Four days ago I added to /etc/modprobe.d/drm.conf: options drm_kms_helper poll=0 based on recommendations on some other forums and bug trackers. I have not experienced a lock-up since.
Sorry, just found this one... will see what I can find.
If you can still reproduce this without the drm.conf changes, it'd be great to test a -debug variant kernel, i.e. http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/kernel/2.6.34.7/61.fc13/x86_64/kernel-debug-2.6.34.7-61.fc13.x86_64.rpm Hopefully slab debugging will catch something. Is the modprobe/drm.conf change still working for you?
Patch at: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=659421#c50 should take care of this.
