Description of problem: If you run preupgrade on a system that faces connection problems, you will end up prompting for rebooting your system to upgrade only a few of your packages. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): preupgrade-1.1.8-1.fc13.noarch How reproducible: Run preupgrade and when packages are being downloaded, simulate a disconnection Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run preupgrade 2. When packages are being downloaded remove the ethernet kernel module 3. Actual results: The procedure prompts for reboot, even though not all packages have been downloaded Expected results: The installer should have detected the network outage and try again when the network is back Additional info: My PC is facing ethernet problems (bug 592398 and bug 574455). I've run preupgrade and the problem on the ethernet module sky2 reappeared, but preupgrade prompted to reboot the system for system upgrade although: # find /var/cache/yum/preupgrade* -iname \*.rpm | wc -l 72 # rpm -qa | wc -l 1481 Only 72 packages out of 1481 currently in the system were downloaded. It has done the same when I tried to upgrade from f12 to f13. It updated only fewer than 100 packages and I've upgraded by using DVD installation media.
This issue looks like a duplicate of bug 650854 or vice versa. If a solution is given in the context of either that bug or the present bug, it should cover both cases.

Fedora 13 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2011-06-25. Fedora 13 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates.
