Description of problem: after creating a live-usb with a 6.5 gb persistent overlay file, only about .5 gb of it is usable which limits the amount of packages i can install as well as drastically reduces the amount of files i can save on the usb. How reproducible: had this problem since fc-11-live: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=237305 Steps to Reproduce: 1. in fedora-13 i use gparted to format and create a /dev/sdc1 (8 gb). 2. i use liveusb-creator to create a live-usb from a downloaded fedora-14 iso (the persistent overlay slider is slid all the way to the right (about 6.8 gb). 3. i reboot using the live-usb and after a few 'yum install's i run out of space. Actual results: [liveuser@localhost ~]$ uname -a -m -p Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.35.6-45.fc14.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Oct 18 23:57:44 UTC 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux [liveuser@localhost ~]$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/live-rw 3.0G 2.8G 211M 93% / tmpfs 436M 136K 436M 1% /dev/shm /dev/sdc1 7.4G 1.7G 5.4G 24% /mnt/live varcacheyum 436M 0 436M 0% /var/cache/yum /tmp 436M 16K 436M 1% /tmp vartmp 436M 0 436M 0% /var/tmp Expected results: i expect that the '/' filesystem would have more than 6 gb of space left. Additional info: this is after a 'yum install gcc'. if i install another big package such as open-office i would get a 'no space left on device' error.
1. fyi: the usb is formatted as ext2
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
