Description of problem: After upgrading to Fedora 14 (from 13) winecfg produced lib errors regarding libopenal and garbled audio. Installing wine-openal resolved the issue. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): wine-core-1.3.7-2.fc14 How reproducible: Not certain. Deleting .wine and rerunning wincfg produced the same results several times. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install wine 2. Run 'winecfg' (w/o a pre-existing .wine/) 3. Run audio test Actual results: > winecfg ... err:mmdevapi:load_libopenal Couldn't load libopenal.so.1: libopenal.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ... Audio test produces garbled sound. Expected results: No library errors, sound works. Additional info:

Should I erase all the wine packages and then yum install wine (from updates-testing) only and see what I get? Or should I just remove wine-openal?
Just upgrade wine with the version from updates-testing via yum and redo your test case as described above.
Awesome. Just doing the upgrade from "updates-testing" repository installed some i686 packages for openal. After destroying .wine/ again and starting winecfg, the previously reported error does not occur at all.
