Image Warehouse should be the canonical source for Images and Image metadata. Currently it is not. Engine may optionally cache this information for perf or availability reasons. Implicit in this task is that we establish how iwhd metadata and metadata queries will be used by Engine to establish the availability of images and their properties.
Changed to high prio. At the very least, we need to give priority to the definition of metadata etc. IWBNI if we could also find time to implement the basic support for the storage part, as the iwhd is sitting around waiting for a client. But for starters, let's get the metadata defined.
This might be worth some additional commentary now that the new image factory integration work has been completed.
