Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 658248
[Emulex 6.1 feat] add BSG and FC Transport patches from Upstream
Last modified: 2011-05-19 08:21:18 EDT
This is a request to add to the RHEL6.1 kernel the following patches already submitted in the upstream kernel: 1. http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/jejb/scsi-rc-fixes-2.6.git;a=commit;h=78d16341facf829a71b6f7c68ec5511b9c168060 [SCSI] scsi_transport_fc: fix blocked bsg request when fc object deleted. This patch is already merged into 2.6.37-rc1 kernel. 2. http://marc.info/?l=linux-scsi&m=128975117904385&w=2 bsg: correct fault if queue object removed while dev_t open This patch has not been committed to a git pool yet. However, this patch is *assumed* to be accepted as there was no negative comments/concerns since its submission on 11/14/2010. The above kernel patches address issues found while testing with the Emulex LPFC device driver.
Patch accepted upstream: -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Patch added to scsi-rc-fixes-2.6: [SCSI] bsg: correct fault if queue object removed while dev_t open Date: Wed, 8 Dec 2010 15:46:45 -0800 From: James Bottomley <jejb@kernel.org> To: Smart, James <James.Smart@Emulex.Com>, James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@suse.de>, Lajeunesse, Carl <Carl.Lajeunesse@Emulex.Com> Your commit: [SCSI] bsg: correct fault if queue object removed while dev_t open This patch corrects an issue in bsg that results in a general protection fault if an LLD is removed while an application is using an open file handle to a bsg device, and the application issues an ioctl. The fault occurs because the class_dev is NULL, having been cleared in bsg_unregister_queue() when the driver was removed. With this patch, a check is made for the class_dev, and the application will receive ENXIO if the related object is gone. Signed-off-by: Carl Lajeunesse <carl.lajeunesse@emulex.com> Signed-off-by: James Smart <james.smart@emulex.com> Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@suse.de> has been added to the upstream SCSI tree You can find it here: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/jejb/scsi-rc-fixes-2.6.git;a=commit;h=9b7958fb235b0151c07ad583929585e94477fd23 This patch is scheduled to be pushed for 2.6.37 James Bottomley P.S.
