Please update Argyll. Version 1.3.2 is out.
Is this package orphaned? The version currently in Fedora is five releases behind upstream.
"Switch to using the hargyllcms friendly fork sources as upstream refuses to switch away from jam, or stop bundling other projects (yajl) and libraries (libusb, libtiff)." That's from http://s390.koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=25219 The sources are still the same old there. I think the package should maybe be renamed, if the fork were alive.
It's not orphaned, I own it, though Richard Hughes has done much of the heavy lifting in the last year. CCing.
Any news here?
Richard, I don't see any tarballs for this at the location in the URL, new or otherwise.
Yes, sorry. Upstream argyll is shipping a bundled patched libusb, the patch in question is still being erred on and changed by the libusb developers. I don't see a way to update argyll until the libusb situation is resolved, unless we take out the static library forked by argyll and create a temporary package libusb-argyll or something. I'll poke upstream and see what I can achieve.
Any development here?
Upstream libusb is just about getting its act together, so hopefully soon. The alternative is we split the argyllcms-libusb1 out as a separate library, although that's just, well, horrible. I suppose we could just rip all the hardware access out of argyll and ship the new tools, although that means we fall back to colord for hardware access (which only supports the Huey). Ideas welcome.
I second the update request: version 1.3.4 is out, and recognises some new (and presently popular) hardware. As Fedora's default colour management calibration seems to depend on hardware recognised by Argyll, I'd even update this bug's priority.
I've spent most of today making 1.3.5 build in Fedora. I've successfully built this for rawhide http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=3556460 and also F16 http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=276683 Could you guys please test these builds and check that things still work? I've got a horrible feeling the new argyllcms is incompatible with g-c-m, but we can fix that if there's a problem and push an update with them together.
It works, thanks! At least the dispwin and the dispcal commands. Can't help with the g-c-m though: ever since I upgraded to F16, it stopped working for me - even with my own build of argyll, which did worked fine in F15. It just says "No devices supporting colour management detected", not showing the display.
Great, thanks. I'll file an update for F16 now.
