Steps to Reproduce:
run following test on ia64 machine
/CoreOS/selinux-policy/Regression/bz484146-smbd-and-spamassassin-in-user-home-dir

Actual results:
kernel unaligned access to 0xe000000135af2147, ip=0xa0000002117dd0f1
kernel unaligned access to 0xe00000409b155837, ip=0xa000000100247b50

Expected results:
no "unaligned access" messages

Comment 1 Milos Malik 2010-12-03 14:46:45 UTC
It's necessary to be logged in via console when running the test.

Comment 3 Eric Paris 2010-12-08 23:24:06 UTC
Created attachment 467618 [details]
stack dump from each unaligned access

This does not appear to be an SELinux issue at all. It appears the relevant functions are:

smbCalcSize_LE and utf8_mbtowc

Comment 4 Prarit Bhargava 2010-12-09 18:13:50 UTC
This is clearly a cifs issue, and not an ia64 issue.

I'll find out who owns cifs and reassign the BZ to them.

P.

Sounds like this may be similar to this bug report. I'll have to re-familiarize myself with it...

Comment 10 Jeff Layton 2011-01-24 16:39:11 UTC
Milos, I have a backported patchset of the one that should be going upstream in my test kernels here:

    http://people.redhat.com/jlayton/

...could you test these and let me know if they solve the issue for you?

Comment 11 Milos Malik 2011-01-25 14:19:14 UTC
"unaligned access" messages disappeared. Following packages were installed before the test:

kernel-devel-2.6.18-240.el5.jtltest.129
kernel-2.6.18-240.el5.jtltest.129
