Description of problem: After installation of fc14 the network card with WOL capability stopped responding to magic WOL packets in soft-off mode. Previously on the same hardware configuration installed Fedora 9 as well as Windows XP din't show this problem. Switch wake-up event on for PCI cards in BIOS 2. Set wake-up options on eth0 like "ethtool -s eth0 wol g" 3. Set ACPI wake-up for PCI bus like "acpitool -W 1" 4. Shutdown the system with "shutdown -h now" Actual results: The machine is in soft-off, NIC LED is off, sending magic packet to MAC has no effect. Expected results: The machine is in soft-off, NIC LED is on, sending magic packet to MAC wakes up the system. Additional info: In fc9 WOL was working flawlessly on the same machine without any special preparations (i.e. no ethtool/acpitool).
I second the above. I have the same problem and I've had it with the last couple of Fedora versions. Might be wrong, but could this be one of the bugs that wanders through since Fedora 9? (see Bug #477186)
