2.6.37-0.rc7.git0.2.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:

every time i start the system
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:
errror messages

Expected results:
no error messages

Additional info:
I found this bug 'https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/618542'
so i've decided it's a kernel bug, because the guys said it's a kernel bug.
The controller seems to be working, but fc15 with gnome very often freeze.
Maybe this is the isue.
Under fc14 on the same machine everything's is OK with the controller.
If you need more info let me know.

Comment 1 Chuck Ebbert 2011-02-07 17:58:28 UTC
Some monitoring utility is sending requests to the controller that it doesn't like. You could try erasing the gnome-system-monitor and smartmontools packages and see if that helps.

Comment 2 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2011-02-17 10:03:18 UTC
Thx for reply.
The error messages are gone away for some weeks ago.

actual result:

My kernel is 2.6.38-0.rc5.git1.1.fc15.x86_64.

So i decided to close this report. :)

Comment 3 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2011-02-26 12:49:03 UTC
with kernel-2.6.38-0.rc6.git4.1.fc15.x86_64 i found error messages again.

But i will test your tips.

Comment 4 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2011-02-26 12:57:31 UTC
uninstalling gnome-system-monitor and smartmontools packages doesn't help.
The issue still exists.

Comment 5 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2011-02-26 13:50:40 UTC
Ok, if i start the system in runlevel 3

[root@mother rave]# dmesg | grep 3w
[ 4.022399] 3ware 9000 Storage Controller device driver for Linux v2.26.02.014.
[    4.038215] 3w-9xxx 0000:02:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16
[ 4.053209] 3w-9xxx 0000:02:00.0: setting latency timer to 64
[ 4.258017] scsi6 : 3ware 9000 Storage Controller
[ 4.271107] 3w-9xxx: scsi6: Found a 3ware 9000 Storage Controller at 0xfe8ff000, IRQ: 16.

shows me no errors.
But if i starts the xfce-desktop and using xfce4-sensors-plugin the error stiil exists.

[ 107.824938] 3w-9xxx: scsi6: ERROR: (0x03:0x0101): Invalid command opcode:opcode=0x4D.

I think it is the same with the gnome-sensor-applet which i had used in gnome before.
I can't test it because it is not installable at the moment. (dependency error since 2 month).
Both packages working with lm_sensors.
So, have i reassigned this report to lm_sensors?
I don't think, because i'm using RHel6 and fc14 on the same system but with different kernels.
