SELinux is preventing /usr/libexec/gdm-session-worker from 'write' accesses on the directory /root. ***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests *************************** If you believe that gdm-session-worker should be allowed write access on the root directory by default. Then you should report this as a bug. You can generate a local policy module to allow this access. Do allow this access for now by executing: # grep /usr/libexec/gdm-session-worker /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol # semodule -i mypol.pp Additional Information: Source Context system_u:system_r:xdm_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 Target Context system_u:object_r:admin_home_t:s0 Target Objects /root [ dir ] Source gdm-session-wor Source Path /usr/libexec/gdm-session-worker Port <Unknown> Host (removed) Source RPM Packages gdm-2.32.0-1.fc14 Target RPM Packages filesystem-2.4.35-1.fc14 Policy RPM selinux-policy-3.9.7-19.fc14 Selinux Enabled True Policy Type targeted Enforcing Mode Enforcing Host Name (removed) Platform Linux (removed) 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Dec 23 16:04:50 UTC 2010 x86_64 x86_64 Alert Count 2 First Seen Sat 01 Jan 2011 03:46:04 PM EET Last Seen Sat 01 Jan 2011 03:46:04 PM EET Local ID 6ba70b84-68b4-4b9e-b01c-c453c748b490 Raw Audit Messages type=AVC msg=audit(1293889564.884:36789): avc: denied { write } for pid=2329 comm="gdm-session-wor" name="root" dev=sda6 ino=790 scontext=system_u:system_r:xdm_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 tcontext=system_u:object_r:admin_home_t:s0 tclass=dir gdm-session-wor,xdm_t,admin_home_t,dir,write type=SYSCALL msg=audit(1293889564.884:36789): arch=x86_64 syscall=open success=no exit=EACCES a0=18b8400 a1=c2 a2=180 a3=7fff3574b580 items=0 ppid=2267 pid=2329 auid=0 uid=0 gid=0 euid=0 suid=0 fsuid=0 egid=0 sgid=0 fsgid=0 tty=(none) ses=1 comm=gdm-session-wor exe=/usr/libexec/gdm-session-worker subj=system_u:system_r:xdm_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 key=(null) gdm-session-wor,xdm_t,admin_home_t,dir,write #============= xdm_t ============== #!!!! Logging in directly as root from X Windows is not supported with SELinux, It is considered too dangerous and the amount/type of policy that would needed to be written, would allow too much access. Either put the machine in permissive mode when you login as root, or login as a normal user and use su or sudo to reach root.
