Description Martin George 2011-01-06 11:41:24 UTC
NetApp has added a new PID "LUN C-Mode" for upcoming ONTAP releases. So please add this to the alua_dev_list array in the ALUA hardware handler.

Refer http://marc.info/?l=linux-scsi&m=129426126516515&w=2 for details.

Comment 1 Martin George 2011-01-06 14:36:02 UTC
With upcoming improvements to the VID/PID string comparison in the device array list of the SCSI device handler, adding the above PID entry is necessary for the ALUA handler to properly recognize the new "LUN C-Mode" NetApp LUNs.

This change is extremely benign and will allow correct operation of netapp storage arrays sited.

Tom Coughlan agrees with this as a z-stream request for rhel5.6.

This is NOT a zero-day request.

This alua_dev_list patch is planned for 5.7.

It is not necessary to put this in the z-stream, because the upstream "improvements to the VID/PID string comparison" that make this patch essential are not planned for the z-stream.

Wrong again! ;)

Patch(es) available in kernel-2.6.18-254.el5
You can download this test kernel (or newer) from http://people.redhat.com/jwilson/el5
Detailed testing feedback is always welcomed.

Verified in RHEL 5.7 Snap3.
