Last modified: 2007-03-26 23:54:06 EDT
Description of Problem:Intel 440GX - Load system from NFS - system installs
perfectly, but once you reboot the box to bring it up for the first time it
times out querying the SCSI devices (AIC7xxxx) Adaptec 7896. It times out on
all the devices (Device offline) on both channels and then the system panics.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
How Reproducible:Either CD install (7.3) or NFS install
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RedHat Linux 7.3 on an Intel 440GX (Adaptec 7896 onboard)
Actual Results:System installs fine, but will not come up on the reboot.
Did you install the SMP kernel ?
The 440GX motherboards have a serious bios bug that requires to use the SMP kernel
No, I did not install with Kernel-SMP support - I'll try it now
I have installed RedHat Linux 7.3 off NFS with "linux apic" and then added
Kernel-SMP option. System is working 100%.
Thank you for your support.
