Description Michael Revelle 2011-01-10 20:59:06 UTC
Description of problem:

Can not move (relocate) items in the panel. For example, I went to emulate the 'xubuntu' panel (panel on top, max width, menu far left etc) however I could create the new panel, right click on the item, select move, but when I would 'drag' to the new location on the panel it would 'release' without error but the item wouldn't be moved. I also tried to 'move' existing items from the original panel to the new one, same results. I also tried to move items from the original panel to new positions on the original panel and got the same results.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Version: 4.6.4
Release: 1.fc14

How reproducible:

Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add second blank panel
2. Add XFCE menu to panel
3. Add Task list to panel
4. Try moving to edge of panel

Actual results:

Nothing, it doesn't recognize the 'edge' segment of panel as a suitable place to move the object to thus it doesn't produce the white vertical bar on the panel which suggests it is allowed to drop the item there to relocate.

Expected results:

It should move the object to where the user has 'dropped' the item.

Comment 1 Christoph Wickert 2011-01-10 21:37:30 UTC
The bug is in GTK, not in xfce4-panel. It worked till gtk2 2.20.x, it does not work in 2.22.0 and will work again in 2.22.1. The workaround from Xfce git git cannot be applied to the 4.6 panel.

So, sadly, looks like there is not much we can do here.

:( Sorry.

Can you try this scratch build and confirm if it fixes the issue for you:

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-16 22:03:20 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
