RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

virt-v2v includes support for Windows XP guests with the latest version of virtio-win. New installations of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 will have this support automatically. Users upgrading from an earlier version of virt-v2v may need to manually alter /etc/virt-v2v.conf. If you see the following error message when attempting to convert a Windows XP guest: virt-v2v: No app in config matches os='windows' name='virtio' major='5' minor='1' arch='i386' the following section must be added to /etc/virt-v2v.conf: <app os='windows' major='5' minor='1' arch='i386' name='virtio'> <path>/usr/share/virtio-win/drivers/i386/WinXP</path> </app> <app os='windows' major='5' minor='1' arch='x86_64' name='virtio'> <path>/usr/share/virtio-win/drivers/amd64/WinXP</path> </app>

Description Matthew Booth 2011-01-21 11:01:53 UTC
virt-v2v dropped support for Windows XP guests when the driver was removed from the virtio-win package. The driver has been re-added in RHEL 6.1, so virt-v2v should support it again. This is a trivial configuration change to the default configuration.

    New Contents:
virt-v2v in RHEL 6.1 re-introduces support for Windows XP guests with the latest version of virtio-win. A new installation will have this support automatically. However, a user upgrading from an earlier version of virt-v2v may have to manually alter /etc/virt-v2v.conf. If you see the following error message when attempting to convert a Windows XP guest:

virt-v2v: No app in config matches os='windows' name='virtio' major='5'
minor='1' arch='i386'

the following section must be added to /etc/virt-v2v.conf:

  <app os='windows' major='5' minor='1' arch='i386' name='virtio'>
    <path>/usr/share/virtio-win/drivers/i386/WinXP</path>
  </app>
  <app os='windows' major='5' minor='1' arch='x86_64' name='virtio'>
    <path>/usr/share/virtio-win/drivers/amd64/WinXP</path>
  </app>

Verified this issue on virt-v2v-0.7.1-1.el6.x86_64.

Convert Windws XP 32bit and 64bit to libvirt pool successfully
Convert Winows XP 32bit and 64bit to rhev successfully,but windowsXP-32bit will BSOD on boot,winxp-64bit works well.File a bug to trace it.

As mention above,change the status to VERIFIED.
