Comment 14 Rick Elrod 2012-06-26 07:02:31 UTC
Ping.
Any update on this? I've sent the maintainer several emails over the past few weeks and have heard nothing back (3/16/2012, 3/30/2012, 4/13/2012, 6/2/2012).

I've also asked about co-maintaining and heard nothing back on that either.

hi at all,
I've also sent a few emails to the maintainer (24/09/2012) but did not answer.

thanks

Another ping. Any update from the maintainer on this?

Going to send a message to devel@, and begin following this:

Comment 19 Antoine Gourlay 2013-06-18 19:01:46 UTC
Hi all,

Is there any news about this?

I'd be glad to help co-maintain this if needed.

Comment 20 Rick Elrod 2013-06-19 04:03:44 UTC
Antoine,

I've still not heard from the package owner, although some of the co-maintainers are somewhat active.

I haven't sent a message to devel@ yet, I will do so tomorrow. I wouldn't mind taking over maintainership of this package. I'm somewhat involved upstream (not with the Scala compiler itself, but I have some contacts at Typesafe which is the company behind it). If I get the package, I'd be happy to add you as a co-maintainer. The more the merrier. :)

Comment 21 Jochen Schmitt 2013-06-19 16:39:26 UTC
The issue with the current scala releases is at foloow: You can build them
localy without any issue because maven will downloading the required dependencies.
Bit if you try to build the scala-2.10.x packages on koji you are running
into trouble, beause koji doesn't allows downloading of the maven dependencies.
There are review requests for this dependencies which are not worked out.
I for myself have to less experience to work out this review requests.

Comment 22 Antoine Gourlay 2013-06-20 21:53:22 UTC
Jochen,

Which dependencies are missing? Scala 2.10.x should be able to build with only ant, ant-contrib & co., the sources from github, and of course an existing set of scala binaries for bootstrapping (and apparently the packaged jline2 instead of the custom scala one).
The difference from 2.9.x is that the source tarball directly included the scala binaries used to build that version (called STARR), whereas now they are not in git but are available for download separately. But adding them as other 'sources' in the spec file should be possible.

Am I missing something?
I have no experience whatsoever with Koji and I am not a package maintainer (yet?) so I may be missing a few things. Are there other hidden dependencies, or restrictions?

I'll try to get up to speed on that and try to build a spec file (starting from the 2.9.2 one) that does that.

Hi, is there any progress with taking over scala package?

Comment 24 Rick Elrod 2013-08-14 11:03:18 UTC
Just sent an email to devel@ to start this process. Thanks for the bump.
