Created attachment 476263 [details] Sanitized output from 'amarok --debug --nofork' Description of problem: For the longest time I've had issued with the backends supported by Amarok. Problems I do not seem to encounter with other music players (not that I don't have issues with them, just not this one). To summarize, if I select the gstreamer backend, playback works fine. Songs play until the very end. But every so often, Amarok does not go on to the next track at the end of the track. When this happens, I see that the progress meter is stuck, either at the beginning of the track, or at some point in it, but clearly the track played to the very end. If, at this point, I pause playback, the progress indicator jumps to the correct point. Pressing it again, the progress indicator jumps back to the start (or wherever it was stuck). If I skip forward, playback of the next track starts, but typically with the progress indicator not moving. More often than not, if I pause at this point, playback will stop, but I won't be able to make it start again without stopping playback and restarting, or skipping forward. Sometimes restarting Amarok will resolve this, but often it won't. So, I try selecting the xine backend instead. Now, the progress meter seems to work pretty consistently, and it never gets stuck at the end of a track. However, using the xine backend, every track has the last second or two chopped off, as if I'd skipped forward when the track was almost at the end. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): amarok-2.3.2-4.fc14.i686 How reproducible: With the gstreamer backend the problem occurs sporadically, but can often be provoked by pausing/restarting, with the problem seemingly exacerbated if the time it is paused is longer than a couple minutes. With the xine backend, every track gets chopped at the end. If tracks fade out or end in a silence, you may not notice, but as best as I can tell, it happens consistently. Additional info: Attached debug output where I: a) Start Amarok with gstreamer backend selected b) Start playback of a track ("Renaissance Superman" by 1200 Micrograms) c) ...progress indicator does not move for the entire duration of the track... d) At the end of the track, playback stops, but does not progress to the next track in the play list e) After waiting for a short while, I pause playback. f) Progress indicator now jumps to the end of the track. g) After waiting a short while, I unpause playback. h) Progress indicator jumps back to original position (at start of track) i) Playback does _not_ resume, still stuck. j) After a short wait, I exit Amarok.
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
