Hello, I've just installed F14 straight from DVD and noticed some icons are missing from the main menu. I've then fully updated the system and replicated all the config from my old system (using only the GUI tools, my home directory was NOT copied from old system). My old system's main menu with some sub-menus: http://lam.pl/fedora-menu-with-icons.png My new system's main menu with the same sub-menus open, this one misses icons: http://lam.pl/fedora-menu-without-icons.png This shows Bluecurve icon theme, but is NOT a problem with a theme - I've tested so many icon themes and nothing helped. Besides, it was missing before I even installed Darklooks etc. My old system is also Fedora 14, just one updated with yum since F8 or so, quite broken/bloated, the main menu takes 27 seconds to even open... but at least has all icons! ;) Bugzilla search didn't find anything helpful, I've tried installing the legacy icons that were missing in XFCE spins, but that didn't help. I'm not sure if the "main menu" is a part of gnome-panel or some different component, please reassign if necessary.
After installing gconf-editor and finding key /desktop/gnome/interface/menus_have_icons I brought all my icons back to life. This is for Google, maybe I can help someone. Two problems: 1. Why does it disable only a few icons (like 10 out of 100) in the main menu? 2. (Off-topic but connected) Where's the "interface" tab in the Appearance Preferences? I don't have it in the old system either, I'd swear it was there few versions ago...
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
