Created attachment 482937 [details] implement suggestion +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #682716 +++ fontconfig-2.8.0-3 fc-match on "pa" gives different results than "pa-in". $ fc-match :lang=pa Lohit-Punjabi.ttf: "Lohit Punjabi" "Regular" $ fc-match :lang=pa-in DroidSansArabic.ttf: "Droid Sans" "Regular" fontconfig knows about "pa" and "pa-pk", because "pa-in" isn't an exact match it considers the full list of pa + pa-pk fonts and returns one of that set fairly arbitrarily, better would be to return a "pa" more generic version when there's no exact territory match.
If i change priority of 66-lohit-punjabi.conf to 65-0 it is giving me proper results. But dunno even 66-lohit-punjabi.conf should work properly
If Lohit Punjabi only support Punjabi (I mean which glyphs they have but not any expects), that may works otherwise simply changing the priority may affects other languages then.
this seems working fine with: fontconfig-2.8.0-4.fc16.x86_64 lohit-punjabi-fonts-2.5.0-1.fc16.noarch google-droid-sans-fonts-20100409-2.fc15.noarch $ rpm -V fontconfig lohit-punjabi-fonts google-droid-sans-fonts $ fc-match :lang=pa Lohit-Punjabi.ttf: "Lohit Punjabi" "Regular" $ fc-match :lang=pa-in Lohit-Punjabi.ttf: "Lohit Punjabi" "Regular" $ fc-match :lang=pa-pk DroidSansArabic.ttf: "Droid Sans" "Regular"
Its not working on my machine $fc-query /usr/share/fonts/google-droid/DroidSansArabic.ttf lang: ar|az-ir|fa|ks|ug|ur|pa-pk|lah(s) $fc-query /usr/share/fonts/lohit-punjabi/Lohit-Punjabi.ttf lang: pa(s) $ rpm -V fontconfig lohit-punjabi-fonts google-droid-sans-fonts $ fc-match :lang=pa Lohit-Punjabi.ttf: "Lohit Punjabi" "Regular" $ fc-match :lang=pa-in DroidSansArabic.ttf: "Droid Sans" "Regular" $ fc-match :lang=pa-pk DroidSansArabic.ttf: "Droid Sans" "Regular" version seems same fontconfig-2.8.0-4.fc16.x86_64 lohit-punjabi-fonts-2.5.0-1.fc16.noarch google-droid-sans-fonts-20100409-2.fc15.noarch changing priority of lohit-punjabi to 65-0 gives me correct output
