Description of problem: I updated my FC14 installation and now suspend is broken. Hibernate does not work on either old or new FC14 kernels. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel 2.6.35.11-83.fc14 How reproducible: Suspend never works with new kernel (version above). It works consistently with the older (2.6.35.6-45.fc14). Steps to Reproduce: 1. yum update kernel (will update to 2.6.35.11-83.fc14) 2. suspend using System->Shut Down...->Suspend 3. Actual results: Screen goes blank but system does not properly suspend. Power light stays on instead of flashing. I can "see" a tty by using Ctl-Alt-F2, but when I try to log in, it does not respond at all. I have to hard power down and reboot to get back to working. Expected results: System suspends when I use the suspend. It resumes when I briefly touch the power button. Additional info: Suspend does work with the originally installed version from the Live CD, kernel 2.6.35.6-45.fc14 Hibernate does not work with either kernel on this machine, but it is rare for hibernate to work for me. Out of a half-dozen systems I have installed Fedora on over the years, hibernate only worked consistently on one. I am not sure what additional info you need. Pls let me know and I will post.
It would help if you could try 2.6.35.10-74. You would have to manually install it from koji: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=211598
I have never done a manual install. What would I have to do? (In reply to comment #1) > It would help if you could try 2.6.35.10-74. You would have to manually install > it from koji: > > http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=211598
(In reply to comment #2) I figured it out and tried it. With this koji kernel (2.6.35.10-74) suspend does mostly work. Here is what happens. 1. System->Shut Down...->Suspend system suspends 2. push the power button to resume Fedora splash screen appears and stays there. If I press <Ctl><alt>F2 I get a working terminal. If I then press <ctl><alt>F1, it returns to normal GUI operation. The only strange part is that I have to switch to tty and back to make things work.
Dupe of bug #695953?
(In reply to comment #4) > Dupe of bug #695953? No. This bug is already present in kernel 2.6.35.11-83.fc14, unlike the one you link, which appears *after* this version.
Just installed FC15 2.6.38.7-30.fc15.x86_64. Suspend works again, so this bug is not important for me any more.
