Description Kris Knigga 2011-03-19 16:46:55 UTC
Description of problem:
While booted into Fedora 14 my PS/2 keyboard and mouse will stop working after a seemingly random (but short) period of time. I have yet to figure out a way to restore functionality without rebooting. It's obvious that the whole system doesn't lock up, as programs I've got running when the keyboard and mouse lock up continue to run and the machine will gracefully shutdown when I hit the soft power button. I've not been able thus far to find any errors in syslog or anywhere else to indicate why this is happening, but admittedly I don't have a lot of experience in lower-level hardware debugging.

My machine:
Asus P7P55D
Intel Core i5-750

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
I'm using a fully-patched (at the time of writing) Fedora 14 machine with the latest BIOS. Though, it's pretty obvious that this bug is bigger than just Fedora. A quick google for "Linux P7P55D PS/2 lockup" comes back with all sorts of other people with the same problem.

Additional Info:
It seems that USB devices do not have this issue. While that's all great, PS/2 still has enough of an install base to warrant getting this fixed. Also, it's worth pointing out that my machine dual-boots Windows 7 and Fedora 14. I have no such problems in Windows.

Exactly the same problem with my ps/2 keyboard on fedora17. the same is also the mb asus p7p55d

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-16 13:47:58 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
