Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Kenichi Takemura 2011-03-23 01:05:50 UTC
Description of problem:

I type oOoOoOoO... in Password field using Shift_L for Capital O and I see 'Caps Lock in on' icon appearing up. But 'Caps lock' is actually off.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
subscription-manager-firstboot-0.95.5-1.el6.x86_64
subscription-manager-0.95.5-1.el6.x86_64
subscription-manager-gnome-0.95.5-1.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
Most of time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Subscription Manager GUI
2. Click Register System
3. Put mouse focus on Password field and type 'oOoOoOoO' using Shift_L

Actual results:
'Caps lock in on' icon comes up.

Expected results:
No icon because Caps lock in off.

I was completely mistaken. I used Shift_R not Shift_L. Please re-read whole description by replacing Shift_L by Shift_R. I changed the summary as well.

Hi when I found this bug I was using a virtual machine. Today I tried to produce this bug on a physical machine but I could not.

Presumably this is a kvm issue so feel free to close this bug.

Was your num lock key on?
That will give you an icon in the password field, too...

Comment 6 Kenichi Takemura 2011-10-31 23:35:31 UTC
I did not remember well...

I've just confirmed there is no icon indication for num lock in password field...
Tested again with num lock on and off but I can still see the icon appearing.
