Comment 3 Martin Ellison 2011-04-06 08:35:42 UTC
If I try upgrading python3, I get errors from yum:

Running rpm_check_debug
ERROR with rpm_check_debug vs depsolve:
python(abi) = 2.6 is needed by (installed) python-psyco-1.6-4.fc12.i686
(lots of errors like that)
Please report this error in http://yum.baseurl.org/report
** Found 12 pre-existing rpmdb problem(s), 'yum check' output follows:
alchemist-1.0.37-8.fc12.i686 has missing requires of python(abi) = ('0', '2.6', None)
(lots of errors like that too)

Of course, it could be that I am doing the upgrade wrongly.

I don't think so.

python-psyco couln't get rebuild with python2.7, so it still requires 2.6.
I guess, you have to remove it and wait for upstream to port it to 2.7
(if they don't have already, I didn't further follow that)...

Ignore the comment, the cause was unrelated repository issues (obsolete packages). I have managed to install the package.
