Description Jan "Yenya" Kasprzak 2011-03-27 12:46:13 UTC
Description of problem:
I am trying to migrate to XFCE from GNOME, and naturally I have ran into various problems. I have reported one of them upstream here:

https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7434

This has report been rejected because this release is no longer supported by upstream. While Fedora is not necessarily obliged to ship the latest version of everything, it should IMO ship at least versions supported by upstream.

So please upgrade the XFCE version in F14 to XFCE 4.8.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xfce4-panel-4.6.4-1.fc14

Comment 1 Christoph Wickert 2011-03-27 13:02:39 UTC
Upgrading to Xfce 4.8 in a stable release such as Fedora 13 or 14 is not planned because it is not trivial and will break existing setups. A major change like this is forbidden through our updates policy [1].

Xfce 4.8 is still very buggy and I doubt that your bug is fixed in xfce4-panel 4.8. If you want to test it you can upgrade from my repo [2] but please keep in mind that these packages are not officially supported Fedora packages. If you hit a bug please don't report it in Bugzilla (at least not for F14) but through the Fedora Xfce Miling list [3].

Thanks for your understanding.
