Description of problem: On the initial configuration wizard, I told it to use NTP to synchronize the time. However, ntpd is not being started on boot. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): firstboot-1.117-2.fc15.i686 How reproducible: Did not try to reproduce. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install from a USB pen drive with Fedora-15-Alpha-i686-Live-Desktop.iso (created with dd), without any network connection. 2. After rebooting, mark the checkbox to enable NTP, and use shift-tab enter to go to the next screen (I am using a EeePC 701, and cannot see the bottom of the screen). Do not change anything else in the NTP screen. The network is still not connected. 3. Connect to a wireless network using NetworkManager. 4. Reboot again. Actual results: 1. ntpd is not started on boot 2. The rc*.d symlinks for ntpd are: K74 for 0, 1, and 6; S58 for 2-5. 3. There is no symlink for ntpd.service anywhere in /etc/systemd Expected results: ntpd should start at every boot. After NetworkManager connects (after logging in), it should synchronize the time. Additional info: systemctl status ntpd.service shows the following information: ntpd.service - Network Time Service Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service) Active: inactive (dead) CGroup: name=systemd:/system/ntpd.service systemctl enable ntpd.service says: ln -s '/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service' '/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/ntpd.service' After the above command and rebooting, ntpd runs on boot and works as expected.
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
