Description of problem: GUI comes up, GUI goes away, with the following text on-screen.

[   13.631511] b43-phy0 ERROR: You must go to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware and download the correct firmware for this driver version. Please carefully read all instructions on this website.

How reproducible:
100%


Steps to Reproduce:
1. Created bootable USB stick for (U)EFI machines.
2. Boot from USB stick.

  
Actual results:
Fedora splash screen appears. Then vanishes, replaced with text above. Does not proceed further.

Expected results:

Expect to get a login screen or a desktop. Don't expect the GUI to drop away.

This may not be related to wireless failure at all but rather failure of X to startup, possibly due to the kernel line nomodeset, used to fix this bug:

Unfortunately agree. I wonder whether bug 650949 is not part of the story as well.

I don't think so. That bug does not specifically say EFI booting is being used.
