Created attachment 490353 [details] Screenshot of paskage search options Description of problem: At the below URL the "Where to search:" radio buttons are misleading / not descriptive enough for customers and causes confusion. https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/channels/software/Search.do For example a customer might leave the default "Channels relevant to your systems" radio button selected and then select the "Sparc" check-box, expecting the search to produce Sparc architecture package results not knowing that because they do not have a Sparc system registered that they will not see a relevant result. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Hosted (current) How reproducible: Depends on customers familiarity with web forms / RHN usage Steps to Reproduce: At the package search URL (above): 1. [For testing purposes] Ensure there are no systems registered to your organisation with the Sparc arch. 2. Ensure the "Channels relevant to your systems" button is selected. 3. Tick the Sparc button under "In the following architectures" 4. Hit the Search button 5. No packages for the Sparc architecture are returned. Actual results: Selecting the "Channels relevant to your systems" radio button does not grey out or prevent selection of architecture tick-boxes Expected results: When the "Channels relevant to your systems" radio button is selected all options under the "In the following architectures" should be no selectable. Additional info: Here is a screenshot of what the page looks like: http://people.redhat.com/~rfreeman/package-search-issue.png In my view perhaps we could add some javascript which nulls the radio boxes from being selected if the "Channels relevant to your systems" button is selected thus making the check boxes in the red highlighted area unavailable for selection.
As you may already be aware, Red Hat is transitioning from the Red Hat Network (RHN) hosted interface to the Red Hat Subscription Management (RHSM) interface in July 2017. Red Hat has invested in and seen success from RHN for many years, and used that experience to build more robust technologies like RHSM. If you have not yet migrated your RHN systems to RHSM or you are a Red Hat Satellite customer, please review the information from. https://access.redhat.com/products/red-hat-subscription-management#migration. Since we are shutting down RHN, no further actions will be taken with this bug or enhancement request. You can find additional information at RHSM product page (https://access.redhat.com/products/red-hat-subscription-management).
