Description of problem: By default there is no access to user's files: * no icons on the desktop * menu "Places" is missing * no list of recently open files * rather difficult way of accessing Files through application launcher so, my simple idea is - add "Files" to the favourites list - next to Firefox, Evolution, Rhythmbox and Shotwell. That would be perfect temporary solution. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-shell-3.0.0-1.fc15.x86_64 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Fedora 15 Alpha / Beta 2. Log in to the gnome-shell (not fall back mode) Actual results: No easy access to documents, files, etc. Expected results: An easy and quick way of accessing documents, files, work. Additional info: Did anyone actually think about usability, when designing Gnome-shell? it looks like a phone/tablet app launcher, not an usable desktop environment :-/
This got fixed by bug 678259 for new installs. If you've made changes to your favorites already, you'll need to manually add 'Files' to your favorites from the shell's application viewer. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 678259 ***
