Description of problem: Right after install one of the init scripts shows a problem. I believe this is the firstboot init script. When connected on the serial console I see: Starting Avahi daemon... [ OK ] Probing for video card: Cirrus Logic GD 5446 Attempting to start native X server Waiting for X server to start...log located in /dev/null 1...2...3...4...5... X server started successfully. sh: -c: line 0: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `"' sh: -c: line 1: syntax error: unexpected end of file then firstboot starts on the graphical console. After firstboot has run I no longer see the error message. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): firstboot-1.4.27.8-1.el5 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Please note that firstboot was not updated in RHEL 5.7.

I'm unable to reproduce this with a fresh install of 5.8. What packages do you have installed? I suspect there's a resource file in one of them with a syntax error, that I simply happen not to have installed.
Hi Adam, I'm also not able to reproduce with 5.8. Looking at the description this is most likely a default (desktop) install, which then starts firstboot.
This bug/component is not included in scope for RHEL-5.11.0 which is the last RHEL5 minor release. This Bugzilla will soon be CLOSED as WONTFIX (at the end of RHEL5.11 development phase (Apr 22, 2014)).
