I'll set aside the fact that linking against gnome brings practically nothing
except forcing extra dependencies.

The actual bug is that it prevents to run gvim with sudo if your homedir
is NFS mounted (and root mapped to nobody, which is the usual case)

deeptought [mc]$ sudo gvim

Gnome-ERROR **: Could not create per-user Gnome directory
</u2/merlin/.gnome/accels> - aborting

aborting...
