Description Jeff Moyer 2011-04-22 14:02:58 UTC
Description of problem:
When hitting the 'logo' key, then typing 'gnome-terminal' and hitting enter, the terminal comes up, but focus returns to the firefox window I already had open.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-shell-3.0.0.2-2.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open firefox
2. place the window in the middle of the desktop
3. hit the 'logo' key
4. type 'terminal' and hit enter

Actual results:
firefox window has focus

Expected results:
gnome-terminal window has focus

Additional info:
Not sure if it matters, but I have two displays. One is my laptop, the other an external monitor. Both applications I launched were displayed on the external monitor.

Is this reliably reproducible? For all programs or just gnome-terminal? (Can't reproduce it here in some quick experimentation.)

Do you get a notification "GNOME Terminal is ready" ?

Can you attach the output of 'gconftool-2 -R /apps/metacity'

Output of gconftool-2 -R /apps/metacity

Yes, sometimes focus sticks within most recently opened gnome-terminal.

I have encountered this problem, perhaps once or twice per day with FC15-Beta, 2.6.38.6-26.rc1.fc15.x86_64

Ctrl-Alt-Backspace logout / login seems expedient.

Comment 3 Jeff Moyer 2011-07-14 13:36:54 UTC
I'm no longer experiencing this issue after upgrading to 3.0.1-4.fc15.x86_64. Alan, is it resolved for you as well?

Comment 4 Alan B Saichek 2011-07-14 16:11:08 UTC
Yes; I'm no longer encountering this problem with gnome-shell-3.0.2-4.fc15.x86_64

Thanks, Jeffrey!
