Description Jeff Moyer 2011-04-22 19:46:45 UTC
Description of problem:
Opening the downloads dialog in firefox (by selecting tools->downloads), the downloads dialog opens, but is not necessarily brought to the foreground. Sometimes, another running application is brought to the foreground. Other times, the firefox window remains in the foreground, with the dialog in the bckground.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-shell-3.0.0.2-2.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
~50% of the time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start some application, like gnome-terminal
2. Start firefox
3. select tools->downloads

If the problem does not appear, close the downloads dialog and repeat step 3.

Additional info:
This seems to be a problem with other applications as well. Additionally, after closing the dialog window, sometimes a different application is then brought to the foreground.

A different application being selected when you close a window is:

 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=620744

Is there some problem you are describing in addition to that?

Comment 2 Jeff Moyer 2011-04-25 13:12:28 UTC
Yes. When /opening/ the firefox downloads dialog, it is not always brought to the foreground. I've also witnessed the restacking on close, but that's not what I've described here. Let me know if I can provide more information.

Thanks, Owen!

Comment 3 Jeff Moyer 2011-07-14 13:38:04 UTC
I'm no longer able to reproduce this with gnome-shell-3.0.1-4.fc15.x86_64.
