Screenshot displaying the errors

Description of problem:

When I try to open Empathy (from activities or Terminal) it displays an error message:
Error contacting the Account Manager
There was an error while trying to connect to the Telepathy Account Manager.
The error was:
Failed to execute program /usr/libexec/mission-control-5: Success

Also I can't open the Account Manager from System Settings --- Messaging and VoIP Accounts

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Empathy 3.0.0-1.fc15

How reproducible:
When trying to open Empathy in any way (Applications panel, Cairo-dock launcher, typing empathy on Terminal), even in GNOME 3 and KDE 4.6
When trying to launch Messaging and VoIP Accounts tab on System Settings

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Empathy
2. It displays the error

1. Open Messaging and VoIP Accounts (from Activities/Applications/System Tools/System Settings)
2. The window doesn't show anything

Actual results:

Cannot use the application

Expected results:

The application should connect to my predefined messaging accounts

Additional info: I removed first and then reinstalled gnome-control, empathy and telepathy* without sucess, have deleted too the config. files located on home directory but nothing changes

What version of selinux-policies do you have installed?

Comment 2 Miguel Mora 2011-04-23 18:54:21 UTC
If found no selinux-policies but if found:
selinux-policy-3.9.16-16.fc15

Right. This bug is due to selinux preventing telepathy-mission-control from running (which is needed by Empathy to manage accounts).

If I open the SELinux Alert Browser it doesn't displays any alert. I've reinstalled all telepathy packages, and I'm getting the same issue when i try to launch empathy from Activities panel, Cairo-Dock or Terminal

But, if I try to launch empathy from Terminal as root, i get the next display:

[root@Lorien mikemora]# empathy

(empathy:2726): tp-glib-CRITICAL **: tp_proxy_prepare_async: assertion `TP_IS_PROXY (self)' failed

(empathy:2726): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance

(empathy:2726): tp-glib-CRITICAL **: tp_g_signal_connect_object: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed
Segment violation (`core' generated)

Comment 5 Miguel Mora 2011-04-23 20:11:29 UTC
Temporary solved by disabling SELinux.

Comment 6 Brian Pepple 2011-04-24 13:56:51 UTC
The better solution is to run to go back to the previous selinux-policy:

yum downgrade selinux-policy*

Comment 7 James Cape 2011-04-25 15:10:48 UTC
Unfortunately, the next earlier version has other issues with empathy which prevent it from operating properly.
