Description of problem: There is no icon appearing for Gnome3's new Application search thing. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 0.84 How reproducible: Install Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install 2.Attempt to start via graphical method 3. Actual results: No icon to initiate program Expected results: Icon in Activities/Applications search Additional info: It can be run through the command line. I haven't yet checked to see where or how icons are stored for GNOME3 so I can't check that yet.
Gnome3 apparently still uses the same directory and there isn't a perl-Padre.desktop file in there so I guess that there just isn't one. I thought that there was one, but maybe I was wrong. If anybody can remember there not being a .desktop file for perl-Padre then please close this bug, but I thought that there was one.
I don't remember ever seeing a padre icon, which really is a bug. All GUI applications need to include a properly installed .desktop file.
There was a desktop file manually provided by spec file but has gone for unknown reason in 0.28-1 version. We will re-add it.

Could you test it in Gnome? This update does work for me in KDE. Please add karma in bodhi.

I tested this in Gnome3's normal mode. There is an icon. It is the application-gear from the default set of icons. I will try fall-back mode as well. I also commented the build in Bodhi.
I tested this in fall-back mode. It is in programming, but there is no icon. There is still no icon when the icon is dragged to the toolbar. How can I remove the application launcher from the toolbar? Right-click sucks in fall-back mode too.

I have no idea about GNOME, but sometimes are icons in menus updated after restart or execution of some command. Also in "modern" desktop icons could be scanned by some strange tool, which could be off in your settings.
I have tried removing, logging out, and then installing and still I cannot get Padre's icon to appear. Before uninstalling, I had restarted & shutdown then started many times to no avail. When did file names become something that could be shorthanded? Was that new to Gnome3? The fedora-padre.desktop just has padre as the icon's name, but apparently that is okay because looking at all of the other. I looked for icons in both the rpm and my filesystem and found them in both. /usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps/padre.png This is the same location and same extension as those for Gimp which uses just the shorthand of the name too. Does the spec not update the menu's icons?

No, I have it according guidelines. This is my only GUI package in Fedora and I don't even have GNOME. Because it's working for Iain, it's fixed for me. I'm sorry, but I'm out of ideas.
I installed alacarte (using yum and F15's repositories) to restart the menu's icons and upon installation the Padre icon appeared.
Did you ever install perl-Padre-0.84-2.fc15 (with desktop file, but broken icon)? I did notice that gnome wouldn't automatically refresh the icon if I manually edited the desktop file with -2 release. And now that I've installed -3 release, downgrading (or uninstalling, then reinstalling) the broken -2 release still leaves me with good icon!
I never had perl-Padre-0.84-2.f15 installed. I had 0.84-1 with no icon. I upgraded that to 0.84-3. After upgrade, an icon appeared; it just wasn't the padre.png.
Then since we all seem to be have an icon with 0.84-3, I agree with Marcela - this is fixed on padre's end. There may be some other bug with gnome not properly refreshing icons, or with packaging guidelines not stating how to make gnome refresh icons.
