Description Anton Jhohl 2011-05-05 12:54:29 UTC
Description of problem: If, during a Fedora 15 Beta install, you select not to format the root partition (e.g. because the partition is already formatted but empty) then, following install, the size of the partition is reported as the size of the installation (plus about 17.6MB), leading to a "low disk space" error.

So for example, after installing to a 10GB partition, the root partition is reported as only being 2.2GB in size, the same size as the base install.

This has happened on two separate machines in the past few days. In each case I've just reinstalled, choosing to format the partition from the installer.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): From the Fedora 15 Beta.

How reproducible: During fresh installation.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Prepare a formatted ext4 partition.
2. Run the installer.
3. Select the formatted partition for /, without selecting to reformat.

Actual results: On booting into installed system, the root partition will be reported as being only very slightly larger than the space used for the OS.

Expected results: Root partition should be reported as its actual formatted size.

Choosing to not format / will not be allowed in F15 final, which you can test in the RC builds.

I discovered this problem too after installing from a Live CD to a previously formatted logical volume (in a VM).

For completeness, could you report the file name of the ISO image you were installing from?
