Short description: xkb plugin in v4.8 (Currently using the 4.8 repo on Fedora 14) is leaking memory like crazy - up to 500-700MB after a couple of days of use. Issue fixed by upstream. (https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7363) Current fixes do not apply cleanly on top of 0.5.3.3 - most likely require rebasing. Let me know if I can help. - Gilboa
Sure you can help: Provide a rebased patch. I am following the upstream bug, however I didn't have the time to look into it and I'm not sure if it's fixed either. There are a couple of bugs that should be fixed already but are not. @François: If you could look into this you are welcome, too.
One more thing: Testing would also help. Did you test the latest code and can you confirm the problem is fixed or are you just relying on the bug report?
Please build a latest - 0.5.4.1 - version! (My problem: xfce4-xkb-plugin forget configuration. Next login, xfce4-xkb-plugin use a default config. Only US keyboard layout. If I use immutable flag on ~/.config/xfce4/panel/xkb-plugin-*.rc file, Xfce can't rewrite config file with erroneous data. Next login very shortly - < 1s - OK (I see hungarian tricolor flag), but in memory go wrong a config. I view properties: only US keyboard layout. :( ) My config: display_type=0 group_policy=0 default_group=0 never_modify_config=false model=pc105+inet layouts=hu,us variants=101_qwerty_dot_nodead, toggle_option=grp:alt_shift_toggle compose_key_position=compose:rwin

xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc15 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 15. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc15
Package xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc15: * should fix your issue, * was pushed to the Fedora 15 testing repository, * should be available at your local mirror within two days. Update it with: # su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc15' as soon as you are able to.
