Hi there,

I had the same problem with the de_DE locale and I was able to fix it.

I did it using the following steps:

1. open a terminal
2. mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.old
3. Start Firefox. It will behave as if it was started for the first time
4. verify that the correct system locale is used in FireFox as well
5. close Firefox
6. open the ~/.mozilla dir in a filemanager (e.g. nautilus)
7- copy the contents of the extensions folder
8. open the ~/.mozilla.old dir in a filemanager
9. navigate to the extensions subfolder
10. delete the folder with the same string as copied in step 7.
11. paste the folder from the ~/.mozilla/extensions directory
12. you may close the file manager session now
13. back in the terminal do
13a. mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.new
13b. mv ~/.mozilla.old ~/.mozilla
14. start Firefox.

Firefox should now use the correct locale and still have your old profile intact.

Yeah, it's broken.

Comment 5 Martin Stransky 2011-06-27 08:39:35 UTC
You need to remove empty langpack dirs from .mozilla/extensions/{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}, we switched to new langpack model in F15.

Comment 6 Martin Stransky 2011-06-27 08:41:02 UTC
Anyway, can you attach output of "ll ~/.mozilla/extensions/{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}" ?

Comment 7 A S Alam 2011-07-13 04:57:01 UTC

$ll ~/.mozilla/extensions/\{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384\}/
total 4

guess this is not a issue in F17+ at least.
Closing this. If needed reopen.
