logged backtrace

I am trying to log in a network user via nis. (I can do "su - username" successfully from the command line, so nis is working OK).

I can enter the user's name in the "Other..." dialog, and the password dialog is then shown, but it is frozen. The password can not be entered. A crash is reported to /var/log/messages. The backtrace is attached.

How reproducible: 100%

gdm-3.0.0-3.fc15.x86_64

Same problem/backtrace here but using LDAP authentication

A small workaround if the users on that machine are always the same and there are not roaming users using it, create those users locally with adduser using the same uid/gid in order to have them listed on the GDM greeter, skipping the need to write the username

See also the upstream bug report: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=651180

I found that after adding users locally and logging in with them, gdm started working OK even if they were removed again from the local accounts.

gdm 3.0.4 solves this issue for me, see bug #690873
