Description of problem: xmobar doesn't work with default config in fedora Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xmobar-0.12-5.fc15.x86_64 How reproducible: install xmobar and try to launch it Actual results: doesn't start Reason: xmobar tries to use "-misc-fixed-*-*-*-*-10-*-*-*-*-*" but there no pixelsize 10 for fixed. Additional info: $ xmobar -f "-misc-fixed-*-*-*-*-13-*-*-*-*-*" works for me

Thanks for the report and patch! With xmobar-0.13-2.fc16 xmobar now uses xft:mono-12 font by default and should fallback to 13pt bitmap font (untested).
