Expected results: Audio recorded through microphone (builtin or external) Additional info: I have see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=680193 and try everything but this do NOT work. aditionally I have installed http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/ and same results Finally I do a source install of alsa drivers 1.0.24 and same result. # cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 Codec: Hi. This is the real problem, but I partially solved it. I could get it working under non-PAE kernel (2.6.35.13-92.fc14.i686) - PAE kernel have no luck with alsa compile. So... Get the latest alsa-driver snapshot from http://www.alsa-project.org/snapshot/ Latest connexant patches are already there. Replace your kernel sources path in following lines 1. Configure kernel (make menuconfig -> load .config file -> exit) (I dont know why alsa build is ignoring arch and throws error like /usr/src/kernels/2.6.35.13-92.fc14.i686/arch//Makefile: no such file or directory, so I forced to setup arch by hands) 2. Replace SUBARCH definition on kernsrc/Makefile to your arch (i386/x86_64): SUBARCH := i386 3. The same with SRCARCH: SRCARCH :=x86 4. Build alsa make mrproper ./configure --with-kernel=/usr/src/kernels/2.6.35.13-92.fc14.i686 --with-cards=hda-intel --with-card-options=hda-codec-conexant make make install After reboot mic is working. I think Fedora should accept latest alsa connexant patches in its kernel.
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Created attachment 603962 [details] alsa-info Fedora release 16 (Verne) External mic still doesn't work. All sound seems to be recorded by internal one. # grep model /etc/modprobe.d/dist-alsa.conf #options snd-hda-intel model=thinkpad options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad
I am Now using Fedora 17 and microphone works as espected without any change in default config. If don't you should try Fedora 17 it is the actual mantain version or wait to fedora 18.

Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
