Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 710046
qemu-kvm prints warning "Using CPU model [...]" (with patch)
Last modified: 2013-01-09 18:55:14 EST
Description of problem: When qemu-kvm runs, it prints an unnecessary warning, eg: # virt-df -h Filesystem Size Used Available Use% * Using CPU model "cpu64-rhel6" builder_debian:/dev/sda1 9.4G 3.3G 5.6G 36% builder_ubuntu:/dev/sda1 15G 5.0G 9.3G 33% [etc] Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.160.el6.x86_64
Created attachment 502500 [details] qemu-kvm-no-using-cpu-model-message.patch This simple patch removes the fprintf statement. With this patch, the code in that function now matches what is in upstream qemu.
QA for this: (1) On a RHEL 6.2 host that has >= 1 libvirt guest, (2) install updated qemu-kvm, and libguestfs-tools packages. (3) Run this command as root: # virt-df The string "Using CPU model" should not appear anywhere in the output.
Reproduced on qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.160.el6.x86_64: Steps and results: ------------------ [root@localhost ~]# /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm Using CPU model "cpu64-rhel6" VNC server running on `::1:5902' Verified on qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.192.el6.x86_64: Steps and results: ------------------ [root@localhost ~]# /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm VNC server running on `::1:5901' Based on above results, fixed.
Technical note added. If any revisions are required, please edit the "Technical Notes" field accordingly. All revisions will be proofread by the Engineering Content Services team. New Contents: Tiny change to remove a "Using CPU model" message that was being printed to stderr by qemu-kvm.
