:1. I connect my external Harddrive via USB 2.0 (It's a Toshiba 2TB NTFS-formatted).
:2. I run deja-dup and let it do or refresh a backup (not sure if this step is necessary)
:3. When the backup is done I open Nautilus, right-click on the external Harddrive and choose "remove device safely" (or whatever its called in english)
