Description mikolaj.bugzilla 2011-06-04 20:35:25 UTC
Created attachment 503015 [details]
alsa-info script output

Description of problem:

Annoying audio flickering.Audio flickers whenever I do something. In other words,
audio doesn't flicker when I don't touch the keyboard or mouse.Any action like changing desktop, opening some application, scrolling, etc. causes annoying audio flickering ( using rhythmbox. Tried with audacious and banshee with no effect ).

- I tried to disable pulseaudio and switch to bare alsa, but since I am using gnome 3 it turned out to be rather difficult. However I run several other distros on this laptop amongst which is slackware with alsa.I have never noticed any strange noise as I am experiencing in Fedora. So it is rather not hardware`s fault. ( Though I dont run the very same kernel on Slackware, so if someone know how to disable pulseaudio and switch to alsa in F15 I can check it out ).

- Problem exists both in Standard and Administrator accounts ( tested )

- I can comfortably play movies without hearing this ugly effect so this is clearly not the matter of not efficient hardware ( details below )

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

pulseaudio 0.9.22

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start some audio player and play music
2.Do anything involving cpu usage
3.Experience audio flickering

Actual results:
Audio flickers

Expected results:
Audio shouldn't flicker

Same here, also with a T60. Playing audio using rhythmbox, when switching desktops or scrolling in the terminal I get sound errors.

Comment 2 Tim Niemueller 2011-10-11 22:10:27 UTC
Any progress on this?

Comment 3 mikolaj.bugzilla 2012-03-01 15:46:27 UTC
The problem still persist in fedora 16.As far as I remember this has become even worse that it was! However I will not file another bug report as this one wasnt even touched.

Comment 4 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 16:56:50 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
