Description m.oliver 2011-06-14 22:15:58 UTC
Description of problem:

On Nvidia GeForce 6150 (NV4E), gnome shell starts, mouse interaction works, but the desktop content is completely garbled (with a small rectangle which resembles a desktop at the center of the screen), so it's pretty much unusable. Applications start and single application windows are drawn largely correctly, but with many artifacts and incorrect redrawing.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Fully updated F15 as of today with
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.16-24.20110324git8378443.fc15.x86_64
kernel-2.6.38.7-30.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log in selecting GNOME
2.
3.

Actual results:
See above

Expected results:
Gnome shell as advertised.

Additional info:
The main board is an ASUS M2NPV-VM. Smolt incorrectly identifies it as an ASUS
A8N-VM CSM (see attached).

dmsg output

Looks like your request of the dmsg file got filed as spam. Sorry for the delay. The problem has remained through all system updates so far.

I got back to this bug as I tried the x64 nouveau test day live image to see if anything has improved. Unfortunately, the live image does not even reach the login screen. It does display the background image just fine for a few seconds, then the screen gets scrambled in a non-reproducable way and I cannot even switch to a console to do any further investigation. I could file a new bug against F16 if that helps, but I am not sure if I can add very much information about it at this point.

Comment 7 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 15:36:32 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
